Dear Anthony: Try adding "kdesu -c" (without the quotes) to the Properties, Execute of the MandrakeUpdate icon on the Desktop. That is, write: kdesu -c MandrakeUpdate This will allow you to run the Update as root. This should work. If it doesn't, try downloading and installing individually by selecting packages individually.
