This is the voice-message/fax trying to grab the modem to monitor it,
look at the logs, and
A) kill ppp so it can control it.
B) point to the second modem
C) turn it back off in the program
D) edit /etc/inittab, and commentout the bottom line reading
"mo:blah blah"
