You use the aic7xxx module.
I have used it for the AHA 2940 au version, which should be similar for
software purposes, with no problems. HOWEVER, Adaptec has not been great
about documenting changes as the chipset has evolved, so you may have
problems where other people with "the same" card have no problems.
You should not have to make any changes to the driver to use it. You
should test it by compiling the driver as a module and testing it:
"modprobe aic7xxx".
As for optimizing it, I haven't tried, having been quite satisfied with
what I have seen. Check the source and any documentation that came with
the driver to see what you can do.
