Thinking about it.
I was asked to draft a nastygram to OTZ about their 55 day delay
and excuses, concluding that "any further delays are cause for
reconsideration". Kotzebue Electric Association is definitely
interested in going into competition with OTZ in this area and
partnering with someone who knows what they are doing. They have
acces to capital and the appropriate licenses, and are the one
exception to the OTZ monopoly regulation, since they are also a
co-op. I will meet with the manager next week. I am uncertain
whether you are interested on tha basis, but I will listen and
see what their plans are. If it seems you'd end up a political
target, I will so advise you.
But, in the mean time, yes, they are thinking about it. Their
budget revisions will be made next month. so they are in a
position to make adequate funds available. My own opinion is
that they are probably adequate as they are, but a communications
interruption when NetWork Solutions didn't update the IP for
yi.org is still fresh in their minds.
