Hello everyone,
I have a DELL poweredge with 256 Mo memory, a pentium 500 CPU and
an AMI megaraid card with three 11 Gig hard drives. I have created and
configured a logical drive
(Raid 5) in the Bios Megaraid card. I just can't install linux with that
card. I have retrieved
on ftp://ftp.megaraid.com/megaraid/drivers/linux the boot disk
and tried to perform the install with it and the Mandrake CD-ROM.
But everything installed fine, until it asked me if I wanted to create a
boot disk, and install the booloader.
I couldn't install successfully any of the two. The boot disk won't create,
and the bootloader
won't install either no matter what I try ( either in the MBR or hte 1st
sector).
Then I retrieved another boot disk form that same ftp site, and I have this
error message
when I try to boot from it. It says : Warning unable to open an inital
console
Kernel Panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.
Has anyone has an idea on what should I do? Is there any more recent
boot disk I can try? I haven't find anything relevant for the time being,
and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Raph
