I have Mandrake 5.3 runnning on a Cyrix 5x86-120 box.
1. Has anyone tried Mandrake 6.x on it? I have heard of some running 6.x on
some high-end 486 machines.
2. Is anyone aware of a Linux program similar to the DOS program that allows
me to set some the 5x86 registers not accessable from the BIOS that improve
performance? Under Win95, I benchmarked the cpu at +/- P60 performance. I
suppose I could boot from a DOS floppy, run the program and then use loadlin
to styart Linux, but is there a more "elegant" soultion? Any thoughts on
dosemu?
