I have recently upgraded my mandrake 6.1 to 7.0 and had it working just fine. I set my /etc/inittab to start X when my box booted up (init 5). All was fine, I was able to log into different window managers with no problem. I cant remember what I was messing with (I think just XF86Config file to get 32 bit depth), but now whenever I put my box into init 5, i get the dreaded xdm loop. The weird thing is (or maybe not?) Is that i can do a 'startx' at a console prompt and start up X windows just fine. I have reinstalled initscripts and a few other packages, but can't get my system to run kdm/xdm mode without looping. Anyone have any ideas?
