Don't know what killed it but try the following to see if it gets it going
again.
cd /etc/rc.d
vi rc.local
Add the following to the end of rc.local
echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
ipchains -P forward DENY
ipchains -A forward -j MASQ -s xxx.xx.x.0/24 -d 0.0.0.0/0
Save
./rc.local
