[expert] mail and netscape

Hello,
 I am running mandrake 6.1.  When I try to send a mail message using
Netscape's messenger, I get this error message

Netscape's connection was refused by the server.  I have no problem
sending mail with /bin/mail or xemacs.  

Any ideas?
