Hi Everyone,

I posted to this list a while ago about my problems with the HPT366 not
being able to boot. Well I've finally solved my problems. If I pass the
kernel option "ide2=noautotune" the kernel will boot fine. I put in a bunch
of debugging statements in to the source and it seems to hang on a call to
"_ide__sti();" in a subroutine that's trying to determine the drive speed.

Anyhow... I don't know what kind of impact the "noautotune" will have on my
system. Anyone have any ideas ?

If youre still having problems, I also sent a message to "Andre Hedrick -
linux IDE Guy" about my problems. He suggesting compiling a SMP kernel and
passing the parameter "noapic" at boot. DIdn't work for me, but might solve
somebody else's problem.

David Stringer.
