Hmm...if that IS the case, that might explain why I keep getting SOME
coasters, even though I've burned the CDs the same way as the ones
that reported fine.
However, I just ran the md5sum generator against the ISO image on my
machine and it APPEARS to be the one you list as the "proper" ISO
checksum. 
Ok. I just checked the checksum *I* generated with the one that
I downloaded from Mandrake. They match. Sorry, cannot verify.
You must have a bad ISO image. My *guess* is that you have some
errors being generated during download. I'd run some ping tests
between you and your dial-up server there at UTEXAS.EDU as well as
ping/traceroute (suggest you get and install MTR for this purpose) to
att.net, which is your immediate upstream provider for the University
of Texas.
