Thanks for all the help!  It's still a bit hazy but hey, it works!

It turned out that I left out the step where you have to type in "lilo" after pointing 
"vmlinuz" to the right kernel.  But isn't
"make bzlilo" the same as reconfiguring and initiating the change in Lilo?

And secondly, why did Mdk7.0-2 use 2.2.14-1mdk instead of 2.2.14-15mdk?  They were 
both already on there from the install.
