I was attempting to do an FTP install of Mandrake 7.0 on my Toshiba
Satellite Pro, using a Linksys PCMCIA ethernet card. I used the pcmcia.img
as a boot disk. From the log messages I can see that it correctly detected
the PCMCIA slots and the correct type of card. However, if I look in
virtual console 4 I see that it was unable to load the /lib/modules/8390.o
module when the cardmgr started (it says no such file or directory, or
something to that effect).
After this I am prompted to pick my type of ethernet card from the list and
I can't get any furthur. I noticed that its loading these modules from /tmp
rather than /lib/modules, so perhaps the above problem is a path
misconfiguration in the pcmcia services?
I know the hardware is supported because I've been running Red Hat
Linux 6.1 on it for quite some time.
