See http://www.linuxforum.com/plug/articles.html and look at the hard drive
article about using hdparm and lilo. I believe that you want the -X66
command for hdparm (-X34 for ATA33 drives IIRC --- didn't work on my
machine). I had no Ultra66 drives and could not test it. The hdparm command
as used in Mandrake are in /etc/rc.d/rc.local. I would appreciate any
feedback. The lilo boot commands help out tremendously.
