Hi Folks;
I had intended to write to the lists today to commend the people at
Mandrake for the superb job they did with Mandrake 7.0 Air...very well
done guys, you should be proud!
I did an install Monday from my Hard Drive and it went flawlessly.
I love the new install interface and Air itself is *very* nice :-)
Unfortunately I'm writing now for a second reason, I have managed to
boo-boo something this morning with my X Font Server. :-(
Anyhoo...I was working this morning and I logged out and rebooted, now
when it boots up to the login screen it just keeps trying to bring up
X and it can not.
If I start at level 3 and tell it to "startx" ..I get the following
errors..
"FontTransSocketUnixConnect: Can't connect: errno=1"
"failed to set default font path 'unix/:-1'
Fatal Server Error: could not open default font 'fixed'
Upon shutdown it says..
"Failed to shutdown X Font Server"
I had this happen once before and wound doing a whole new
install...don't want to do that again...yikes!
I have tried manually adding "font" paths etc...with no luck.
Is there anyway to fix this X Font Server problem from the command
line??
What can I do to get my Air working in X again??
Sorry about th cross post to both lists, but things seem a bit flaky
with the lists the last couple days.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.
