thanx, but i've found the problem, i've set the desktop to 3x2 but the pager
left at 2x2 in .fvwm2rc
the pager still works for all 6 desktops, but i think this leads some other
fvwm2 functions to hang.

Yeah, that used to happen to me with fvwm sometimes, too.
I now run KDE and haven't had the problem . . .
But when I ran into it I'd just restart fvwm from the popup menu.
No biggee; just takes a second or two, and doesn't kill any of you
windows or anything.
