[expert] X Won't Start

New v7.0 installation on partition that was running v6.1, accepted the 
default selection of packages.  When I try startx I get:

        execve failed for /etc/X11/X (errno 2)
        _X11TransSocketUNIXConnetc:  catn't connect:  errno: 111
        giving up.
        xinit:  Connection refused (errno: 111):  unable to connect to X server
        xinit:  No such process (errno: 3):  Server error

Solution(s) please?
