Dear friends:

A simple question, please:

What is the path for the sound device in VMware for Linux. I found out
from a kind list member that the path for the modem is: /dev/ttyS1 and
he was absolutely right. It was a little breakthrough that made my day.
It immediately launched my modem and connected to the Internet.

Is there a similar simple statement for the path for the sound? I have
tried everything and I just can't figure it out.

Here is my /etc/conf.modules:

[sher@adsl-77-233-178 sher]$ cat /etc/conf.modules
alias eth0 3c59x
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
pre-install plip modprobe parport_pc ; echo 7 > /proc/parport/0/irq
pre-install pcmcia_core /etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia start
alias sound sb
pre-install sound /sbin/insmod sound dmabuf=1
options opl3 io=0x388
alias midi awe_wave
post-install awe_wave /bin/sfxload /etc/midi/GU11-ROM.SF2
options sb io=0x240 irq=7 dma=0 dma16=6 mpu_io=0x300
[sher@adsl-77-233-178 sher]$

I hope that helps your troubleshooting. You would think it would be a
simple problem to solve. But nothing that I have tried works.

Thank you all in advance. And thank you all for sharing your
professional experiences with VMware with an ordinary, non-techie user.

Benjamin
