I have a dual celeron system myself, based on an Abit BP6 motherboard. I had my
stability issues (hard lockups), which appear to be fixed now by swapping the
Soundblaster Live and the network card from place.

No problem with my dual celeron machine; it runs 2 seti@home clients all the
time, and still I manage to get work done on it without even feeling it.

You may have trouble finding SMP-capable celeri nowadays, however. Seems that
Intel has disabled these features in the last celeri they produce, since they
never really wanted to see celeri in server machines. So make sure that your
hardware-vendor agrees to take the celeri back if they don't seem to work on
your system.
