Finally had the chance to test a large Seagate IDE Drive (10.2G
Barracuda) with an Intel 810 Chipset and Celeron Processor and
Linux-Mandrake.

Venus, Helios, and Air all liked the combo. (66MHz bus on a Soyo Board
and a 466 underclocked to 400 to solve stability problems) They were
willing to install and run with it.

Still, any socket 7 from 66-100 has trouble with this Barracuda and any
586 or higher code linux. 100 Mhz BX Chipset has trouble with it and
the same linux distros (Stampede, Enoch, Mandrake, RH recompiled for
Pentium, etc.), but for the celeri, it seems to work at their normal bus
speed.

I had a BIG heatsink and a constantly running ball-bearing fan on that
Celeron 466, and I watched the temp climb to 59C on the processor at 466
and the programs go nuts. I backed off to 433 then to 400 to keep 56C
or lower where the stability seemed to obtain. Never knew the Celeri
cooked that way before.
