Mount your Mandrake cdrom, go to your mount point, SU to
root, type "rpm -ivh gcc*" and also see if you have glibc
stuff installed by doing an "rpm -qa | grep glibc." I would
want to see all of the following packages installed (from
Mandrake 7):
glib-1.2.6-1mdk.i586.rpm
glib-devel-1.2.6-1mdk.i586.rpm
glibc-2.1.2-9mdk.i586.rpm
glibc-devel-2.1.2-9mdk.i586.rpm
glibc-profile-2.1.2-9mdk.i586.rpm

IMHO, that and the "gcc" rpms should do the trick!
