After reading all the mails about this getting not installed and
that not working with MDK7 and some people nailing MDK7-CDs on
their garage walls....

Just for a change here's a small success story:

I read the SuSE cdb in search for a printer for my MDK7 box. I
read the vast printer database on www.picante.com and archived
every mail referring to printers.

Today I bought a HP 690C (secondhand) for 50 USD (including
cable and cartridges).

I was looking forward to a night of fiddling with printer
options in zillions of config files. I bought some coke (the
brown liquid, not the white stuff!) searched for the number of
the next pizzahut, locked the door and went to work.

*It was done after 15 minutes!* That included a recompilation of
the kernel (adding pport support), starting DrakConf, filling
the forms and printing the test pages.

The Mandrake ASCII page and the postscript page came out of the
printer without a flaw. The lines were where they are supposed
to be, the colors were looking how they are supposed to look.
A simple click in Netscape Navigator printed out the starting
page of my homepage with a nice pic of a Tux using the telephone.

I'm really disappointed. Now what do I do with the remainder of
the night?
