Pipe or FIFO. First in First Out file. What ever is written into a pipe is
read back in the same order. I can exist with as a directory entry, or in
some OS's without a directory entry but as a pair of filehandles. The queue
size I usually run into is about 2K.
It is the 'glue' between many processes in *nix.
IMHO it is *nix major strength and M$ doom. The lack of a standard inter
process communication in M$ OS's is a real problem. IOW how do you direct
Arguments into M$'s find then into a Backup program?
