I have been trying to setup Mandrake and ipchains on an old Pentium 100
with 32meg RAM --
The kernel is compiled to support ipchains on kernel 2.2.14---
Ipchains and all the kernel modules are in place...
The system gets a ip address via modem connection to the internet and ppp.
The ethernet card is set as 169.254.0.1
I've created an ipchainsup script created verbatim from some sample
ipchains scripts I found on the web... I've now tried several different
scripts and ipchains still refuses to work... I am now completely
frustrated with ip chains...
I can get the others systems on the network internet access by using the
squid proxy package -- which works fine -- but for some reason will not
allow you to send mail from a yahoo web mail account...Ie you cannot enter
anything from one of the Windows98 client machines running IE5...but can
surf and pull up any web page -- including reading yahoo mail.
The location or address bar works just fine -- but the compose mail form
refuses to work...and will work fine from the same machine under its own
dial up connection...
Is there a stand-alone app-based NAT or complete proxy package for Linux??
(ala Sygate for Windows style...that is kernel independent...)
Please help--
