I appreciate the comment - but as I said - I cannot even INSTALL to get to a
point where I can turn off PCMCIA anything.  Also - this is a kludge -
simply recompile the PCMCIA driver (on a working system, obviously) and turn
OFF the BIOS probe during the config - problem (that's been around since
L-M6.0) solved.
