Hi !

That's hardly related with MDK but linux. It's a SuSE distro. I got
the job to install it to 12 machines which haven't got CD-ROMs.
But there's no real server available just a winNT box. So NFS isn't
player here. I had the "great" idea to put an FTP server program to
the NT "server". I did it wit war-FTP daemon. Another 128mb RAM
and it works fine. So I take the boot and modules floppy and
started the installation at one of the clients. It booted the correct
way, on the modules diskette there was the module for the NIC (an
integreted - these are Compaq machines) and it got the root image
from the server after I set up where is the name server, the
machines ip and so on. So, after I partitioned the disk and wanted
to install rhe other packages I got the message that it couldn't find
a route ! I switched to tty2 and started to ping our ftp server. 100%
packet loss ! I started to ping another machine (was up and
running) on the private network and 100% packet loss again. At
last I tried to ping the ftp.suse.com and got nothing. The box just
could ping itself. So, tell me, when did I make a mistake ? Or is
the boot floppy has a bug ?
Thanks,
Ago
