The W2K boot loader is identical to the NT 4 bootloader except that it is
a later version, and there are a few more options for the NT command lines
in boot.ini. There was a while there when I was using the NT 4 versions of
the software (ntldr and ntdetect.com) to launch W2K because the NT4 versions
work on my computer than the W2K versions did not.
I recall seeing something about using the NT 4 boot loader this way; it
should work for W2K. So, yes, edit boot.ini all you wish!
