Under the K list,  find Gnome and X apps, then Internet, then X-Chat.
X-Chat is a graphical IRC program that comes with the Mandrake 7.0
distro.  I was a mIRC user for years, and LOVE X-Chat for it's power,
ease of use, and looks.
