Unless you have a unique IP addy for virtualdomain.com it would be your mail server. Use your mail program to route mail for virtualdomain. If I remember right in sendmail you add virtualdomain as an alias then you have multiple options as to what to do with that mail e.g. I host a friends domain and all mail to his domain automatically forwards to his @home email addy. Pretty cool stuff.
