I wouldn't think you need many (if any) network enabled services running in
that case.
In /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/ you might want to see that you have:
network
syslog
crond
sshd (maybe if you want remote access)
xfs (if you run X)
keytable
gpm
local
You could probably get away with that as a bare workstation.
