I've tested both drives with the -c and -d options manually, and the drives work just fine and dandy. The read-ahead options tend to cause problems, though. Regardless, they DO get reset back to the default 16-bit, no-DMA settings by the time the bootup is finished. As soon as I login and check settings, they're "non-optimized" again.
