Hi Adam,
        if you want to permit access to mounted msdos disk only for
root(0) and group dos(504) [my new group] put in /etc/fstab

/dev/hda1 /mnt/c vfat uid=0,gid=504,umask=007,noexec,conv=auto 0 0
