I have WordPerfect on MDK 7.0 (updated boot disk- cdrom.img). I did cheat and
use the installer provided on the "Extras" CD provided with the MacMillan
release 6.5 of Linux-Mandrake 6.1. There was no tar ball to expand, I simply
copied the WordPerfect install folder from the CD to my $HOME folder. I opened
a console window in KDE, swiched to the installer's folder, and ran the Runme
script from there. I got an error about bytes read, but the installer started
ok, and all went well.

As far as the debian package is concerned, I'm not sure, but I think kpackage
may have debian support, at least it provides a place to search for debian
packages in the options > location of uninstalled packages > Location DEB. You
could try setting the path there and see what happens? I think the worst thing
that could happen is thet kpackage is unable to do the install.

HTH,
