I have just installed Mandrake on my machine
(an HP Vectra XU). I have both an IDE and SCSI
hard drive, and put Mandrake in /dev/sda7. I
have had several other Linux distributions,
and never had a problem booting.
I have LILO in /dev/hda, and have put
I made a boot floppy and can boot from it
without any problems, but when I attempt to
boot from the hard drive, I get the following:

... changing IO-APIC physical APIC ID to 16
Kernel panic: could not set ID
In swapper task - not syncing
