Is it possible to obtain a configuration file (i.e. one loadable into the
tcl/tk dialog from 'make xconfig') that contains the information needed to
build the kernel that comes with the distro?

I don't want to have to reconfigure the whole damn thing from scratch but
need to have built the more or less identical version of my running kernel
for some dependency information to be generated in the kernel source tree
by the build process...I'm trying to compile some new i2c stack modules
and the stock 2.2.15 kernel tree just doesn't cut the mustard.

If someone would be willing to advise me about this, that'd be great...I'm
not sure what "stuff" Mandrake has compiled into the kernel...or if it's
just a clean 2.2.15 source tree build with no extraneous options set.

Thanks a ton,

-j
