I know I'm beating a dead horse, but here goes. . . My ide tape drive worked fine with Linux-Mandrake 7.0, but with 7.1 (and latest kernel updates) I can only write to the tape, I can't read from it. Is it possible to re-compile the ide-tape.c which comes with 7.0, but re-compile so that it works with 7.1 (without re-compiling the whole kernel)? If possible, how would I do so? Thanks for any help with this. ---Norvell Spearman
