so now that you've finally got 'more problems than it's
worth'/'hyped up'/'tryin to sell the masses new hardware' ...going

post a hdparm -Tt/dev/whatever ??
does it do 142+ mb/sec over 22+ mb/sec? and was it worth it ?
ata/33 on a decent BX does with -0- hassle *most any kernel*
kids these days an' what they'll fall for...........
