As for as a quick check of modem traffic, I suggest kmodem which will dock a little flashing icon on the taskbar just like in that GUI for DOS. Get it from http://rufus.w3.org/linux/RPM/suse/6.3/i386/suse/kpa1/kmodem-1.2.1-74.i386.html I've found it works well in Mandrake. Gene
