I'm running Mandrake 7.1 on one of my old machines and
I'm trying to get the FTP server to work (yes, it's installed):
On the machine, when I say
ftp 127.0.0.1
the client session that I've just started says
Connected to 127.0.0.1
and then just sits there doing nothing (my guess is it's
waiting for a response from the server).
/var/log/secure shows:
<date> <machine> in.ftpd[1184]: connect from 127.0.0.1
but I never get a login prompt and nothing else ever
seems to happen.
A little while after I stop/kill the client FTP session,
/var/log/messages shows:
lost connection to localhost [127.0.0.1]
FTP session closed
Just for kicks, I've tried telnet and it work fine ...
