Dumb question from a former redhat user, but I would like to switch my left crtl
and caps, and I had it working using xmodmap with my redhat isntallation, but I
can't remember where I put the lines. I've tried putting them in the .xinitrc
but it doesn't look like it is read by anything when the login menu starts up
the x-session I choose (i'm using the rc5.d automatic login menu). I'd
appreciate a hint as to where to place the commands, or a more convenient way to
do it if possible.

p.s. here is what I was using before in the .xinitrc:

xmodmap - <<EOF_XMODMAP
        remove Lock = Caps_Lock
        remove Control = Control_L
        keysym Control_L = Caps_Lock
        keysym Caps_Lock = Control_L
        add Lock = Caps_Lock
        add Control = Control_L
EOF_XMODMAP
