Jerry,
How were you able to accomplish this? Did you just delete the term
"supermount" from fstab as in:
/mnt/floppy /mnt/floppy supermount fs=vfat,dev=/dev/fd0 0 0
/mnt/cdrom /mnt/cdrom supermount fs=iso9660,dev=/dev/cdrom 0 0
and set it up as a normal fstab? What about the /etc/mtab file?
