In the mid 70s the US government implemented their new World-Wide
Military Command and Control System (WWMCCS, or 'wimmicks') on
Honeywell 6000 series mainframes. I was told that the one system was
cooled using water from an ornamental lake (is there one near the
Pentagon itself?). Came winter and the lake froze; the system went
down. 

Fortunately the Russians knew nothing of this...
