Hi there..

I have just changed from Red Hat to Mandrake 7.1 after using Red Hat for

six months or so.

When I installed Mandrake I chose "medium" security.

My problem is that when a remote user telnets into my machine, I cannot
communicate with him by using the "talk" program, I have to use the more

cumbersome "write program".

I make sure that "mesg = y", and then use the "who" command to see who
is logged in.
When I execute the "talk" program I get the following error message:

[ Error on read from talk daemon: Connection refused. Press any key... ]

which appears for about 5 seconds, then the following message appears:

[Checking for invitation on caller's machine]

I never had any problems with Red Hat in this regard. I can telnet into
my
friend's machine which has Red Hat 6.2, and start a "talk" session no
problems.

If anyone can help, it would be appreciated

Cheers
