I'm still new to linux but am advancing quite a bit.
My first query.
I've just bought myself an AMD DURON Spitfire 600Mhz with 196k CACHE on Chip
running on the gigabyte ga-7zm mother board and you would like to know how it
runs, We'll all I can say is to all the Athlone users the the duron is here
with more power than ever before thats on system & multimedia and all you PIII
users when you try it the price will make you change to it, but don't take my
word for it try it yourself.
My I need to know how to benchmark to test my system because the only thing to
test against is the windows98se installation (13 minutes including one reboot
after installation)
My system:
600Mhz duron spitfire 256k cache on chip /64k on die
gigabyte GA-7ZM mainboard (via chipset)
ATA66 on IDE
13 gig seagate ata66 hdisk
10 gig fujitsu dma33 hdisk
196MB pc100 ram (will change when can afford it)
16 MB nvidia riva tnt
ac97 onboard audio
52x CDROM Drive
loaded with mdk7.1 (helium)
Now the boards landed in SA on wednessday and we had a back order for one.
When we finally were ready to scream we got the long awiated board and it had
onboard sound.
linux however does detect it but it gives a fail message when I boot for
"insmod sb.o " twice
please help I have two of them.
I did recieve the drivers for linux redhat6 on the cd but it gives an error
saying that i have the wrong kernel which i no uncertain terms I do.
