Yeah, I tried the Xfree86 4.01 from the "cooker" FTP site and it's
working now. I guess what happened was I downloaded the entire package
from Xfree86.org and it didn't jive with the way Mandrake has their font
server set up. Naturally the RPM version fixed that. Now, if we could
only get true hardware acceleration for this ATI Mobility chipset (for
Quake 3, etc.) I'll be ready for anything.
By the way, has anyone noticed that by installing Corel Photo-Paint 9 (
a very cool FREE download, by the way..) that it somehow wipes out all
your file associations under KDE? How would you reinitialize these,
without doing a full install or manually resetting them? Thanks for all
the great wisdom!
