Sorry I don't know anything about proxies or netactive. I do run a
firewall and didn't do anything special to make my public webserver
also available to the LAN

Have you tried the name you use for your 192.168.42.1 NIC/adapter?

Well if that is exactly what you typed and the response you got my
guess is that you have not setup your DNS. I am not sure what you
were expecting to get because AFAIK you don't put local IP's in your
zone file (exception is localhost), these typically resolve from
the hosts file e.g. If I type lynn.dalrun.com (or 192.168.0.1) in any
LAN browser I get what the public gets when typing dalrun.com (or
24.16.244.57), the first is resolved by hosts (private) the second by
any DNS (public). That said I've never setup a large LAN and it may
be you want a private and public DNS or something else I know nothing
about.
