Odd. After I added several of the servers folks on the list suggested, I
found kscd segfaulted. I made no effort to find the problem as I had other
problems. After reading this, I removed all references to
freedb.freedb.org from the config file, /root/.kde/share/config/kscdrc. It
still segfaults. Hmmmm....

However, when I move the existing kscdrc file aside ("mv kscdrc
kscdrc.sav"), kscd runs and generates a new rc file. This suggests that in
my copious free time I can add the changes back in one at a time and find
the problem. In my copious free time.

I don't see any way to get the version, but the RPM package is:

root@charlesc # rpm -qf /usr/bin/kscd
kdemultimedia-1.1.2-3mdk

This on Mandrake 6.1.

Two thoughts on the problem: 1) I see that some of the lines in kscdrc have
trailing commas. Perhaps this is the problem? 2) Perhaps it is not some
specific item, but a line length or some such generic characteristic?
