Just drop the RPM on to a kpackage window and click the File List
tab.  Each file in the list will be green ticked or red crossed
depending on whether it is already installed or not.

I also read that Midnight Commander (mc) treats RPM files as
psuedo-directories which contain all the RPM component files.
