Well, if you want to compare them, then you want to have one NT computer
and one Linux computer, and find the best way to do the tasks you want
to do.
Comparing how well they do ray-tracing is of no interest if your job
only involves computing accounts receivable.
So it depends on what you want to do. I'd check freshmeat or rpmfind
for the best Linux programs to accomplish the tasks you need to do, and
compare them. If we are honest with ourselves, we will admit that there
are *some* tasks where Windows is the easier way to go, so Linux isn't
guaranteed to win. It should be kept it mind, though, that Linux is
more reliable and less subject to viruses, so a certian amount of "user
unfriendliness" ought to be granted it in return for the stability and
robustness it offers.
It also might be a factor to consider that Islam condemns theft (in
common with Christianity, and Judaism, and all other major belief
systems), so Linux is better for your immortal soul. (Given that the
alternative being considered is stolen NT software.)
