Yes, I did.  Someone told me about the ide-scsi module.  I did a
``insmod ide-scsi'' as root and---voila!---Linux now thinks I have a
SCSI tape drive at /dev/st0.  I then added ``ide-scsi'' to the
/etc/modules file, so the module would get loaded automatically at next
startup.  After doing this, my tape drive has worked flawlessly.  I
think I sent an e-mail to the Mandrake wish-list address, so hopefully
this won't be a problem in future distributions.
